The Black Elephant Band is the solo performer, songwriter and book author Jan Bratenstein from Nuremberg. Stylistically comparable to Andrew Jackson Jihad, Jonathan Richman or Kimya Dawson, his antifolk sympathetically doesn't give a damn about genre clichés, folk stereotypes and singer/songwriter seriousness.

This elephant irons over the entire china shop of songwriting without a care in the world and, as we know him, treats himself to a hand-warm Fernet Branca afterwards as a reward. He is usually on the road solo on a "never-ending tour", often with the weird folk collective Folk's Worst Nightmare and occasionally as support for names such as Frank Turner, Beans On Toast, East Cameron Folkcore or Fred & Toody Cole from Dead Moon.

Get ready for weird anti-folk with beard, guitar and harmonica. Marvellously irreverent and simply great - in keeping with the Bretterbuden style.
